I am constantly intrigued and moved by the truth that as we look within, investigate and connect to the present moment through movement (or stillness), we connect to a deeper sense of self and connect to a broader sense of what is surrounding us. The depth to which I have been able to connect to my self and my surroundings is largely due to my studies with the Alexander Technique, Modern dance techniques and Gyrokinesis® movement. I am looking forward to meeting you and sharing this honest investigation and awareness in motion. For a glance at my training, I graduated as an AmSAT approved Alexander Technique teacher (1600 hour course) in 2015 from the Balance Arts Center in New York City under the direction of Master Teacher, Ann Rodiger. Recently, I became an apprentice as a teacher of the Level I format for Gyrokinesis® movement classes from Gyrotonic on Broadway where I studied with Rie Tomita and Master Teacher, Naoko Moriyama-Robbins. Julie teaches in English.
Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique is a method for learning dynamic balance and improved functioning of the mind-body as a whole. In this floor class, we explore familiar, everyday movements that we use on and off the mat. Throughout the class, we bring into consciousness our thought and movement habits and allow for change to find the most integrated and easeful use of our bodies. This floor class was developed by Ann Rodiger and combines knowledge of the Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff fundamentals, Feldenkrais, Yoga, Voicework, and various dance disciplines. The class can be adapted to suit the needs and interests of the students, including the voice, posture, specialized activities, and breathing.
Private Sessions are available upon request. Click here for more information.

Alexander Technique Lie Down for Presence, Calm, and Ease Audio Recording
Here is a small offering during this unique time that I hope will serve you in being more PRESENT and feeling calm and at ease. This practice will encourage and aid you to be present in this exact moment, not letting the mind run wild with what might happen in a few minutes, a few days or a few months.
I invite you to allow yourself to take this short 15 minutes out of your day to be fully and consciously present with your body, noticing the tension melt away, and noticing the renewed ease of your body and the natural flow of energy. I will be guiding you through my version an Alexander Technique "lie down", sometimes also referred to as "constructive rest".
So, grab a mat and a small book for support under your head (if this feels natural and comfortable). Join me in semi-supine (see picture below).
